Trama:
L'anime è ambientato nel 1931, in un mondo alternativo dove lo shogunato Tokugawa non è mai stato abolito e continua a regnare nel paese a discapito dell'Imperatore Meiji. L'anime seguirà le attività del "Nue", un'organizzazione governativa che ha come compito di giustiziare coloro che sono avversi allo shogunato. Il paese ha raggiunto l'indipendenza energetica grazie alla "vena di drago" e ha avuto un'incredibile sviluppo scientifico, dove scienza e il Giappone del Periodo Edo sono mischiati...

L'organizzazione dissidente "Kuchinawa" cerca di rovesciare il regime entrando in conflitto coi Nue. Sawa Yukimura, la cui famiglia fu uccisa quando era ragazza continua a cercare Janome, uno degli assassini della Nue.
