Trama: In un lontano futuro in cui il genere umano ha colonizzato un vasto spazio nell'universo, un incessante conflitto in corso da centocinquant'anni vede due fazioni scontrarsi l'una contro l'altra: da una parte si staglia l'Impero guidato dalla dinastia dei Goldenbaum, mentre dall'altra vi si oppone l'Alleanza dei Pianeti Liberi. Centro degli scontri tra le due fazioni è il Corridoio di Iserlohn, unico punto attraversabile dell'intera galassia. Seguiamo quindi le vicende di due protagonisti: il primo è Reinhard von Lohengramm, un giovane generale facente parte della nobiltà imperiale grazie al rapporto forzato di sua sorella con l'imperatore. Reinhard prova grande astio nei confronti del monarca e della dinastia dei Goldenbaum, tanto che alla compagnia della nobiltà preferisce l'ambiente militare. Il promettente soldato cercherà quindi di sbloccare la situazione di stallo tra le fazioni e di ribaltare il potere dell'imperatore a suo favore. Il secondo è il commodoro dell'Alleanza Yang Wen-li, considerato dalla sua gente una leggenda per le sue doti militari e per le sue imprese. A differenza di Reinhard, egli è pigro e odia la guerra, ma suo malgrado sarà costretto a parteciparvi per proteggere le persone a lui più care.
